Monday, July 06, 2009
On July 13, 2009 Dr. Brent Savage will begin seeing patients in the Medical Office Building at Paulding County Hospital. Dr. Savage grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University. From there he went to medical school at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. He interned and did his residency in a program from Wright State University which included many hospitals in the Dayton area.
Dr. Savage majored in molecular bioengineering at OSU and was interested in research. After deciding that he could not be stuck in a research lab all day, he investigated becoming a physician. When he started medical school he knew that he made the right choice because he greatly enjoyed the interaction with patients.
Dr. Savage is married and has three young children. His family is planning to re-locate to the Paulding County area. When asked why he was interested in coming to the Paulding area he had this to say, “My family and I like the small town atmosphere. We are interested in the closeness and the camaraderie between the local population and the medical staff. “ He continued, “ I like the fact that I will not have to rush from hospital to hospital. I will be practicing at one place so I can spend more time with my family.”
Dr. William Strawter, Paulding County Hospital’s current full time general surgeon recently announced his desire to retire prompting the search for a replacement. Dr. Savage is the result of that search.
Dr. Savage’s scope of care includes general surgery, endoscopic procedures, and wound care. His patient load will include patients of all ages, pediatrics to geriatrics.
