Surgery

Surgeries and procedures once available only at large, urban hospitals are now routinely performed at Paulding County Hospital.
Our surgical team is comprised of Paulding County's first full-time general surgeon, Dr. William Strawter, working with experienced, trained and certified surgical nurses and technicians.
Dr. Strawter is board certified in general surgery and experienced in general, laparoscopic, and thoracic surgery, endoscopy, trauma, abdominal, and vascular surgery. He also is Wound Care Certified and oversees the county's only wound care clinic.
In the hospital's recently remodeled surgical suites, we have the latest, most up-to-date equipment for a variety of laparoscopic surgeries. This type of surgery is less invasive and provides for a quicker recovery. Laparoscopic surgeries include gall bladder, appendectomy, hysterectomy and tubal ligation.
Other up-to-date technology and equipment available include:
- State-of-the-art anesthesia delivery and patient monitoring systems
- Video endoscopy used for colonoscopies and EGDs (esophagogastroduodenoscopies)
- Cataract and ENT (ear nose, and throat) equipment
- Orthopedic equipment with c-arm capabilities for orthopedic and podiatric surgeries
Though surgery can never be called enjoyable, we strive to create a stress-free, convenient environment for patients and their families.
